Our client, Inovare
Development Ltd, was asked to provide web-based training for the Virgin
Media sales force. They were also asked to provide a means of delivering
that training and recording performance. We were asked to investigate
this requirement and to make recommendations. As we developed the
requirement it became clear that while there were a considerable number
of systems commercially available, the license cost for such a large population
against the initial amount of training to be delivered did not make commercial
sense. We proposed a simple web-based LMS (Learning Management System)
that implemented the AICC
standard of communication between training material and the LMS.
This, together with some customisation of the Coursebuilder interaction
framework provided as a Dreamweaver extension, provided an ideal solution.
In subsequent phases of development software has been extended
to encompass SCORM,
manage physical and virtual classroom lessons and a highly visual representation
of training pathways.
